If you don't print pictures, just get the black ink, it is cheaper. The only reason you would need the photo cartridge is if you print pictures. It makes the pictures have a higher quality.

If you have a choice, use just a black cartridge. Right now you are using more ink than you need to print in black. Using a photo cartridge for printing text is overkill, because the ink is better quality than you need. Plus, if you aren't printing photos then you are going to be left with a photo cartridge that has plenty of blue and red but no black. It would be much more economical to buy a black cartridge to use for your every day printing.

Always go with a black cartridge unless you are trying to print professional quality photos. You are going to get much more value from a black cartridge. You often get more ink in a black cartridge and are not using the tri colour as heavily when you are simply printing text.

whatever is cheaper which I'm assuming is the black. since you don't print that many or no photos, you have no need for the photo ink. the black will be sufficient enough for all day printing and should you come across the need to print a photo then you can still have the photo cartridge for that purpose. otherwise, I'd start swtiching to the black cartridge and keep one photo cartridge on hand just in case.

nicely first there isn't any such difficulty as a black and white catridge... digital image printing is image printing era. It makes use of a few BLACK, and far of coror counting on when you're printing a colour image or a black image. It prints what you word, so if there is colour in the picture you want to print, certain itll print colour... maximum printers function a Black Cartridge and a colour Cartridge, yet lots of the newer image printers function the means of more beneficial colorings and performance a million black cartridge and a pair of colour cartridges with diverse colorings in them.

Definately a black cartridge, and you can get these a lot cheaper than colour ones. In the UK you can also go to places like Cartridge World and get your old ink cartridge refilled much cheaper than buying a new cartridge.
