The most expensive book that I have ever purchased has to be a legal textbook that was about $100.

I have bought books for: school (that's through high school, college and law school), work and for fun.

Right now, I purchase books mostly only for travel and for fun. The most expensive book that I have purchased recently is the Lonely Planet, Australia and it cost $30. For fun reading, I read about 2 books each week. I try to purchase most of my fun reading books as used books from either local bookstores or from Amazon.

I don't buy books. I check them out from the library because I never read a book twice. I LOVE books. On a montly basis, I read anywhere from 5 to 10 books. All fiction, usually fantasy type books with love stories woven into them....

Books are my passion. I used to buy them, but lately I'm getting them from a library. If it's one I can't live without, I'll buy it. $50 is the most I'd pay for one. In college the text books were much more than that, but I had no choice.

I usually buy books at used stores, but when something really good comes out like a new Stephen King novel, I'll pay about $30 dollars for the hardback.

My guess is not many read books, the Internet is their information. Right or wrong. I read a lot & love to read, mostly for pleasure.
The highest priced book was a while ago - college book $158.00,
still mad over it years later. Written by fellow professor.
I sold an antique Bible for $865.00 - collectibles seller.

Reading pleasure only now...

The highest price paid is 117$ for a book on Astronomy for my wife. Of course it was for her one class so she can test out of it. Outside of that, most books over 50$ I tend to overlook, unless of course it is something that really catches my eye, something of historical significance.
