if i buy a dvr would i still have to pay the monthly fee of direct tv or i would just get channels and stuff like that i know is a stupid question but i would just like to know?

We have direct tv with a dvr (tivo) you don't need cable , but you will be paying for the direct tv. not cable.

You don't pay for cable, but there is a small monthly fee for the DVR (primarily for the guide service).

You won't have cable. You'll have a dish on the outside of your home. You will pay for that service.

I have directv. I pay monthly to directv only, there is not a cable bill.
