anyone renting an apartment and paying their own heating bill, could you give me some idea about what it would cost in Chicago.

Well in North West Indiana, I pay about 75 dollars for a small 1 bedroom apartment.

The cost of heat and or electric will vary depending on the type and size of the apartment. Depending on the construction no two buildings will be the same. Second floor in a three story are general cheaper to heat. I would ask the landlord or other tenants what the approx costs are. Some rents may include heat.
