I'm just curious with rules with hotels...

... are you allowed to pay in cash?
... do you have to be over a certain age to get a hotel room?
... do you need an ID to get a hotel room?
... can you rent a hotel room for a day?

Most hotel want credit cards and id incase you trash the room. Also you have to be atleast 21 to rent at most of them. And if its a nicer hotel you rent the room for the whole day, although there are some that you can rent by the hour.

1. Some hotels allow you to pay in cash but not all.
2. Yes you need to be at least 18 year old.
3. Most hotel rooms require ID to rent to you.
4. Absolutely.

You can pay in cash, but when doing so and additional nights deposit might be required and refuned upon check out once the room is checked for damages.
Many hotels will not rent to those under 25 years of age ( some even have a rule not to rent to locals)
You definately need an I.D.
And you can rent the room for as long as you want , as long as there are not existing reservations making the hotel full on a certain date.

Yes, you can pay by any method you like. However, most require a credit card in order to make a reservation.

In general, you need to be 18 in order to rent a room, but your state or city may have a law that specifies otherwise.

The only reason you should need ID to rent the room is because you don't look as if you're old enough. Otherwise, they don't really care.

You can rent a hotel room for as many (or as few) nights as you need. Usually, check in is between 2:00 and 4:00, and check-out is between 11:00 and 1:00.

ROFLMAO!!!!!
Yes, you can pay in cash
Yes, you have to be at least eighteen (darn it!!)
Yes, they'll want your driver's license number (sorry)
When you rent the room, it is expected that you'll use it to sleep in...that's what the rooms are actually for.

Whether you are of age or not, if you rent a room with a girl who is a minor, (assuming you are not her parent), you could be prosecuted for statutory rape...even if you didn't touch her. The law is going to assume that the purpose of renting the room was for sex. Their funny like that.
If neither of you are of age, you have still committed a misdemeanor, and could still get in a s**t load of trouble.
There are some "community property" states that assume that if you sign in as man and wife, will assume that you are married...in their eyes, you just established a "common law marriage". (I don't think New York is one of those states, but I'd make sure before I did something really stupid. This particular mistake once cost a friend of mine everything he had with him...motorcycle, money, equipment...even the man's clothing. She had every right to take the stuff, since she was his "wife". Needless to say, he never saw his "wife" again...or the bike!)

If it's a spur-of-the-moment thing and they have vacancies.

Yes, and that varies. You'd have to call ahead. Some won't let anyone under 25 reserve a room!

No, but it does help to confirm. You'll need it if you pay by credit.

Yes, absolutely.

Now you're not going to try anything stupid...right?

Yes, yes, depends on policy, and yes, but all hotels/motels have their own way of doing things so it varies on what you can do where.
