its the points. level 1 is basic. level 2 is a proper user.

There is a limit on how many questions you can ask on level one. You also appear to get more points for logging in as you go up to higher levels. level 4 you get free windows wallpaper with Yahoo Answers on it - WOW.

Now that's cheered you up I must get top answer for that. It's green wallpaper too. i can't stand green personally. I have stars as my background on my desktop.

The level is directly proportional to the time spent in answering to questions asked by others. You could have found the answer yourself when you log in. This way you could have saved 5 points
