There is no comparison. Mustang drivers need to get off their high horse. The camaro and firebird with the LS1 was in the 13s stock years before the mustang. The mustang GT is STILL slower than the last gen T/A or camaro. 2002 camaro ss 6 SPEED, 325HP, VS 2002 mustang GT 5 speed 260hp. Nuff said.

The new mustang, nope,... Sure it is by far very reminicent of an early Mustang II,... But as for performance, its not on a par as some older Mustangs. I've got a co-worker who has one of those older Mustangs, its got an original Shelby-Cobra Turbo engine, when ever she rolls by the sidewalk trembles, the building trembles, When she starts the thing to go home from work, the whole parking garage trembles - seriously. She's 48 yrs old and she still peels-out when she exits the parking garage.
She says the new mustang is much too wimpy. (of course - her mustang is in a class far above the current mustang).

The firebird is - well, the older muscle car owners I work with, say its a joke. So lets not even go there.

The Camaro on the other hand, isn't too bad. But because the industry is dabling in efficiency - when it comes out of the factory stock, its more of a novelty than something to go out cruising and showing,... Again in comparison with early models (those that haven't wrecked), the new Camaro is a little anorexic.

I'm sorry if I had a choice of one as a free car in a contest, I would go with the Camaro.

Otherwise I rather have an older model, because they were more roomy, had a larger engine displacement (you could always swap out a bigger block if you had the time & money), and when you hit the accelerator, - lets just say its always cool to see a classic take off like a bat-outta-hell.

My uncle has a firebird, and its so tricked out, its technically illeagal to drive it on the road. But the cops don't mind, they like to pull him over just to chat about the car.

My dad used to have an old Ford F-100, it too was restored and tricked out, but it got trashed in a natural act of nature, he just drives a honda now (he loved the truck more than my mom).
