My period started last sunday. For a few days I was only lightly spotting but for the past week i've been bleeding heavily.
This is the first time this has happened to me and i'm a tad bit worried and mainly i'm just confused as to why this is happening. Is this normal? It feels like i've been on my period for a year...I just want it to stop.
Help?

Thank you all for the answers so far...

I just turned 18. My weight has been in between 115-120 for the past 2 or 3 years. I don't know what else to tell you.

I can't go to the doctor until i get 12 "credits" from my college so my insurance can continue to cover it for me.

thanks.

Spend some time relaxing. Stress tends to wreak havok on periods. For example, I have a highly irregular cycle to begin with, sometimes going two to three months without a period, then bleeding for two weeks to a month solid, and then have a normal one the month after, and a second one two weeks later. As I got older, I accepted this chaos as normal (and worried when it was stabilized!).

As outlandish as it sounds, I once spent 6 months bleeding, with only a few days of merely spotting or no blood each month. However, I was heavily stressed, and each passing day without hope of it ending just made it worse. Because of the very situation that was going on, I could not take the time to go see a doctor. I finally accepted this, and spent time relaxing when I finally had the chance to. That very week, it ended, and I went back to my regular old chaotic normalcy.

Just spend some time relaxing and pampering yourself. Take your mind off it, and it should go back to normal. Although I couldn't... if it gets any worse, go see a doctor, if for no other reason that to reassure you that it's normal.

go to your doctor and tell him/her what's up and see if you should be worried. Also order some HHA Women in Balance pills from herbalhealer.com and those should help as well. I know I have had messed up periods since I was 16. I was once on my period for 6 months straight and the doctors could not find anything wrong. Also the doc may put you on birth control because that will regulate and lessen your periods but make sure you take them the same time everyday and don't smoke.

First, try to relax. You don't say how old you are, but some variations in the length of your cycle and your period are normal, although a pain. If you are not experiencing gushing blood, things are probably normal. If you start to bleed too heavily to keep up with your pads/tampons, call a doctor immediately. A lot of things can affect your period length, mostly hormone and stress related. I'm not a doctor, but I've had a lot of experience.

I can't tell you what is wrong with you, but if you're anywhere near menopause, that could be one of your problems. If you're not near menopause, then it might be another reason. If you are bleeding heavily with blod clotts then you might be experiencing menorraghia or endometriosis. Hopefully it's none of these because I've suffered with heavy bleeding for a long time and I've finally found a product that's been helping me. If you are interested in finding out more about the natural supplement I've been taking, email me and I'll tell you more.

This great product will even help you earn extra money, but you must try the product first. It will help with any health issues.

You shouldn't be asking Yahoo! You should be seeking advice from a physician as soon as possible. Since you do not have a history of this, does someone like your mom have this history? The thing is, it could be a number of things. I would make an appointment as soon as possible and not stress too much (if possible). Good Luck!
