If you're looking for a dramatic anime, then look no further. Strawbery Panic, no magic, and it's really new too. When I say new I mean It's so new that it's still airing new episodes in Japan,
It's about a girl named Aoi Nagisa who is transfering schools because her mom and dad are going over seas. she transfers to a school thats actually three all girls schools and meets the kind of represenitive of the three schools on the first day and it was kind of akward but they connect and they start liking each other...
Yes It's kind of a lesbian anime but the closest to porn is kissing
and theres no nudity...

You should try an anime called Tsubasa Chronicle. It is very good and very dramatic. There are a lot of feelings in this kind of anime. Watch it!

It is Anime first off.....but if you are looking for something similar dramatic wise I would check out Kanon, Fushigi Yuugi, KareKano, One, Kimagure Orange Road, Peach Girl, Ayashi no Ceres, Please Save My Earth, Kodomo no Omocha (slightly comedic too), Fruits Basket, and Jyu Oh Sei to start.
You are not looking for Akira or Heavy Metal (Akira is action, Heavy Metal is not even anime)

Naruto, Galaxy Express 999, or Big O. FullMetal Alchemist deals with real life science (even though exaggerated for a Cartoon).

TRINITY BLOOD! Watch this first! Most anime has magic and this doesn't really and it is somewhat what you can expect from Air.

i honestly think that anime movies are better than series. better story since the plot has to be told in that time frame.... well most storys have an ending...

If that's not dramaie enough try Cowboy Bebop, everyone loves that one, anime legend.
