Was watching it and noticed that Jon Stewart plays devil's advocate to both sides. I've noticed that Jon Stewart also always his guests to answer the questions instead of shouting them down (ala Fox) or interrupting them with another question (like CNN).

It is sad that a comedy show is the most impartial source of news. That's when you know there's something terribly wrong in this country.

And herein lies the problem... The Daily Show is not a news show. It is an entertainment program. Jon Stewart is a comedian, what he is a comic, not a journalist.

He is also well liked so people from all over the political spectrum enjoy being on his show. And while some have complained about the way he takes fragments of their answer and he changes the question asked for the program, they understand he is a comic.

While CNN and FoxNews are primarily news networks they do hire a group of entertainers to provide non-news programs. There are also some shows that highlight relevent events, and there are others who provide editorial content. The entertainers and the editorialists are not to be confused with journalists.

They are the most neutral "news" show out there because they show what a bunch of hypocrites the Fox news company is and how CNN can be absurd sometimes. They let people see just how one sided some of these news stations can be (Fox is more Rebuplican then most). The Daily Show just present what the other shows broadcast and they let the audiance (or the public) make whatever assumptions they want.

I really enjoy the Daily Show, as well as the Colbert Report. They effectively expose the hypocracy of the people in power, and the ridiculousness of our media.

But- Jon Stewart certainly sits on a 'bully pulpit' and is far to the left of the current administration. But- then again the current administration is far to the right of most of america.

He's certainly to the left of center.

Shiraz, I really don't like you. It has little to do with your political views, but rather the ire with which you express them. Tone it down a bit, be less inflammatory, and perhaps you'll get your opinion across.

FWIW- I'm a republican- but one who is disenchanted with many things the current adminstration has done.

particular. And no longer something has befell in 2yrs that he's been President, for the solid the two. he's gotten us in extra concern. They blame Bush and the Republicans in spite of the shown fact that the Dummycrats began the mess. The Clinton's and their team firmly assume that they did a basically stunning activity with the financial equipment interior the Nineteen Nineties. it somewhat is belied by using way of the information--their coverage policies set the point for the present financial fall down. they are people who unleashed Wall highway, allowing it to create poisonous financial instruments that have been designed to explode. They ran the fee selection surpluses that killed the financial climate—and left undesirable President Bush with a deep recession. the certainty is, there wasn't lots that Bush might do given the state of the economic equipment different than to enable Chairman Greenspan and Treasury Secretary Paulson to run serial bubbles to check out to rapidly leap start up the financial equipment. The crash was inevitable—what is going up have have been given to come again down, and by using way of 2007 Wall highway had run out of borrowers vulnerable to deal with debt they might now no longer very possibly pay off, and suckers vulnerable to maintain ever extra debt that would desire to on no account be serviced. 2 years on, there continues to be no hint that Obama needs replace. electorate are fed up in audacity. they have been promised the audacity of desire, no longer the audacity to proceed to shift sales to the wealthy. And definite, the advice are out. President Obama is presiding over the main important wealth redistribution in choose of the wealthy the U. S. has ever seen. 40 million human beings are on nutrition stamps; 40 4 million are residing below the poverty line. And the wealthy are richer than ever until now than. it somewhat is not any longer a accident—it became the Clinton technique of shifting an ever greater share of GDP and company constructive factors to the financial sector. the financial climate has collapsed below the burden of all that finance. And yet we nevertheless see no information that the President plans to alter direction.

I think the Daily Show assumes the audience has intelligence, and can make their own decisions (or at least laugh!). I don't believe CNN or Fox assumes intelligence from their audience.

Because he makes it blatantly obvious when something is an actual quote or newsclip, and when it is being doctored for comedic effect.

Unlike most news shows, there is no guesswork involved in untangling the reality from the spin.
