gees this is complicated :)
ok, I am moving to Los Angeles in 2 months... I am married, so have her as a dependant... no children :) I am relocating from another country, so my wife would not be able to work... :) still around 2K ? quite high! :)

There are a few factors to consider here -
1. Pay frequency - are you paid just once a month?
2. What did you put on your W4? How many dependents?
3. Your state and federal largely depends on these two things.

You will have to pay social security no matter what the answers are to the above items - that equals $535.50. Usually fed is about 15% and state is about 7%.

It depends if you are married or single and whether or not you have any deductions such as mortgage interest. I would say without knowing any of the details your taxes would amount to somewhere between 18 - 23% of the gross.

It depends on what you claim as your deductions, and whether or not you have any pre-tax deductions such as medical or 401k. Ask the HR director at your job, they can tell you for sure.
