The whole WORLD of politics is upside down.
REPUBLICANS have been the party of cutting domestic spending ... but have had the largest budget deficits (BUSH BUSH AND REAGAN) in the last 50 years.
DEMOCRATS are in favor of using US military and economic power to free the world from dictators and despots (and Republicans are against any use of military unless our own security is threatened), except in Iraq, where the positions are reversed.
Its all upside down, because it is all about power -- who has it and who wants it. Principals are gone. Positions are gone. Its all about power.

because of the fact the GOP fell removed from their center ideals. There are Progressives in the two events (Teddy Roosevelt grew to become right into a proud modern even if he grew to become right into a Republican) Progressives are people who pick to enhance government for his or her part. because of the fact of this there is the style of robust Anti-Romney sentiment interior the conservative/GOP ranks genuine now. Romney (by using his very own lips) is an admitted modern (as have been McCain, the two trees - Dad better than son, and Bob Dole). The dynamic you're seeing genuine now's the Anti-modern Gingrich (close down the government because of the fact he refused Clinton's expansions) and Ron Paul on one part with Santorum and Romney on the different. a real Conservative isn't "small government" as much as "close by government" (because of the fact the Founders meant). you won't be in a position to administration a central authority it is hundreds of miles and thousands and thousands of greenbacks in marketing campaign funds removed from you. And especially, the Founders needed us to regulate our government, no longer any incorrect way around. there's a civil conflict interior the GOP/Conservative camp between the Progressives and Anti-Progressives.... basically time will see who comes out on genuine.

Bush may not be the greatest politician but he does know that Americans have been trained to want a "big government" (read: a national daddy) and so his administration's approach has been "You want a big government? Ok, you can have it but it's gonna be OUR big government, not the big government envisioned by the Weak Sisters."
So, we get No Child Left Behind, a fantastic expansion of the drug benefit of the already-broke Medicare entitlement program, $110 billion for Hurricane Katrina "relief", and on and on.
Again, the attitude is "You want me to GIVE you things? Well, here they are, then! Do you "love" me NOW?"
And, of course, the answer from the left is "Never - we only want things given to us by our guys! Take your stuff and shove it!"
That and going on about "fiscal responsibility". Can you imagine - Democrats uttering the words fiscal and responsibility consecutively and then claiming that they are in favor of that?
Will wonders never cease?
The only problem the left has with Bush's spending is that it's not being spent on THEIR pet projects and sprinkled on THEIR political base. Well, that's what happens when you lose, isn't it?
Win an election and you can go back to "Happy Days are Here Again!"

The were previously, under the old guard fiscal conservatives.
Since the Neocons took over the party, they have taken advantage of having a large federal govt, and increased the scope of govt wherever possible, as a means to push their social agenda.
That's why many fiscal conservatives are abandoning the Republican party.
