I pulled out my Buffet clarinet just to answer your question...you should feel special.
Mine is just above the thumb rest and contains absolutely NO letters. Mine also has it at the bottom of the top joint. As you can imagine, these numbers should probably match.

You should contact the manufacturer if you don't find the answer here. They probably have a website.

in violins you look inside the violin, maybe that's the same with clarinets?
