What to get, be sure you get something that is meaningful to you and you wont look at in ten years and say " what was I thinking".
The where part thats up to you, I guess it depends on what you do for a living (visable or hidden).

I think if you want a tattoo you should find somthing you really fall in love with and wait 1 year and see if you still like it. Dont get a tattoo somewhere just because you think it may hurt less. wherever you get the tattoo its going to hurt so if you really want a tattoo suck it up and deal with the pain, belive me it will be worth it. I wanted a tattoo for 9 years before I seriously started choosing designs, after I decided on my favorite design I waited almost 2 years to acually get the tattoo. I love my tattoo and it was well worth the wait. I got my tattoo on my upper back, it spans from shoulder blade to shoulder blade and the top starts at my lower neck. It hurt like hell just like I knew it would but it was worth it to have my tattoo in the place I wanted it instead of getting it somewhere just because it might not have hurt as bad. The pain acually isnt that bad, its not unbarable but it is an uncomfortable pain. I hope you take my advice, I have been out of high school for 4 years, many of my friends who got tattoos in high school now regret them very badly because they didnt think about what they wanted and where they wanted it long enough.
Somthing to always think about when you are picking out a tattoo is what is going to look like on you when you are 40, 50, 60 or 70 years old. Good luck

I would get a tattoo some where that you can hide it, but also were you can show it off if you want to. Trust me I learned from experience. Also the best rule to follow at least for me is really think about what you want to get and wait at least a month.
Plus they are addictive. I got my first one 4 years ago and I am just about to get my fourth.

I'm thinking this should probably be your decision. I mean, if we all tell you to go out and tattoo 'LOSER' on your forehead are you going to do it? If so, then that's what I suggest you get.
That tattoo is going to be there the rest of your life. Make it something with personal meaning. Not just a stupid cliched butterfly tramp stamp or nautical stars on your arms.

well i think that a tattoo should be something that means something to you personally, or something that describes you, instead of just randomly selecting something from a tattoo magazine and copying it, so this is really a something that should come from yourself..
and as to where, well i have a few, and it really depends on your resistance to pain, i got both ankles tattooed (right on the bone too) and i didnt really hurt, but in case you cant really bear too much, a nice meaty place does the trick...

If you don't know what you want or where to get it, you probably should wait. I think you just like the idea. I would like another one, on my ankle (bracelet) of my husband's, kids', and my names in Chinese. I am waiting because I don't like the idea of not being able to cover it up as easily as my other ones. Tattoos are for you, not other people.

whatever you get, make sure it means something to you! when my boyfriend's sister was killed in a car accident may boyfriend and i got butterfly (mine was on my back, his was on his arm) tatoos in memory of her (my boyfriend's tatoo is not girly) and when my grandfather passed away (i was extremaly close to him) i got a frog tatoo on the top of my foot. my "POPS" was a navy seal frog man (diver) so that is what the frog represents. i would never get anyone's name tatooed unless it were my childs (don't have any yet).
