I haven't had a land line for years. It is much more economical just to use a cell phone, especially since the phone companies (like the cable companies) continually raise their prices and lower their services...

All I had WAS a cell phone for seven years. It was perfect! No sales people calling, and nobody had my number unless I gave it to them.
Then I got a computer when I moved here and as far as I know, I had to get a phone line to have a computer in this house. This is a kind of backward place, so no cable connection or anything like in a city.
I still have a cell phone, but I hear that wireless hook up for a computer is prohibitively expensive and inconvenient.
On the up side - I can send text messages.

That's funny, I actually work for the phone company and I did that last year! I live too far out for DSL so I just use my cell phone and the free internet at work.

I've thought about it so much. Then I think about how sometimes my phone will not get good reception. So I end up keeping the home phone anyway. One day though.. I'll break free.

No I am a prudent and rational being by nature, land lines have their own importance as do cell phones have.
So you cannot live with / without anyone.
