pygmalion sculpted the statue of a woman and loved his work so much that the love godess aphrodite decided to make him REALLY fall in love with his statue. Which he did, obviously.
After that, he stayed almost all the time with his statue, looking at it and loving it.
And the love godess aphrodite, who wasn't such a mean gril, after all, decided to give life to the statue, and married pygmalion with his now living statue.
(looks a lot like pinochio, doesn't it?)
