Cabin rentals would be cheaper if you were gonna stay for a week or so...but as far as motels try in Gatlinburg on airport road thats red light 8 make a left...there are some good cheap ones up there..like motel super 8...they have just redone that one so it is super clean and not far from the best little mexican restraunt in the burg called La Carreta...As far as attractions...go to Ober Gatlinburg ride the tram its a good view..(I used to work there)..and there is an indoor ice skating rink which is good family stuff...Dollywood is in Pigeon Forge but is expensive I suggest if you wanna do that buy tickets on E-bay before going...If you are going soon you may want to hurry up and get reservations because of Labor day and the fall grand rod run a couple of weekends later on the 15th of Sept all weekend...its so crowded then it takes about 3 hours to go from Gatlinburg to Pigeon Forge...Well anyways Good Luck and have a good time...

I have stayed at the Motel 8 mentioned above and it is nice.
Use the trolley to get around..it is cheap, takes you all over and you don;t have to fight for a parking place.
There are great Haunted Houses, a Ripley's Museum, small shops and great little stores to visit in Gatlinburg. Visit The Happy Friar, which is a Donut shop that has excellent fried goodies. There are also Saltwater taffy places that are cool to stand at the window and watch them pull the taffy..
You can take the tram up to Ober Gatlinburg. There is a skating rink, shops, ski lifts and a toboggin run made of cement(AWESOME RIDE)
You are not too far from Cherokee Indian Village and they have all sorts of things you can do there.
In Pigeon Forge, there are outlet malls, mini golf courses, and a great restaurant called The Apple Barn.
If you go into the mountains, watch for the bears...they will just walk right out of the bushes and into your path. If you go between the middle of Sept and Middle of October, the changing of the leaves are awesome.
Another good idea for a place to stay is a Cabin Rental. They have great off season rates and are in great locations all over the mountain.
Have fun!!!

There are PLENTY. We go often and have never made reservations ahead of time. Have had no problem getting a room. They have signs out front telling the price of rooms. Only this is for single person, so add $10.00 to whatever they advertise. You can drive the parkway and see the hotels and swimming pools and pick whatever is your taste. There is plenty to do whatever your age. Rides along the parkway, but Dollywood is best for your money. Water park at SplashCountry. Musical shows, comedy shows, all clean. Plenty and plenty of uniques shops. Horseback riding, petting zoo,Trails to walk or drive. Don't overlook Cades Cove where you will see deer, turkeys, red fox and bear. It's FREE! Drive over the mountain to Cherokee to see the Indians in one day.Plenty of places to eat.

We stayed at a campground when we went. It was very fun! Guess it depends on what time of year and if your into that though....And use the trolly bus to go around. It is so cheap and then you won't have to worry about where to park!
