If you’re looking for accurate acne information, best to see a dermatologist. Some people believe doctors are predisposed to take the easy way to deal with acne… prescription drugs. But, with many, this simplistic answer may not be the appropriate course of action. Some feel that such prescription drugs just treat the symposium and not the underlying cause. But, a local dermatologist is still your best starting point.
For me personally, I discovered a great informational acne treatment site. Not only is there good information/articles but I got their audio e-book and following it’s advice can now say that my acne is a thing of the past! Keep in mind, were all different and there are various types of acne, so what works for some may not be totally effective for all.

Bottom line, hang in there, you will get past this! Sincere best wishes and good luck.
Oh, by the way the site that helped me is: http://www.acne-treatment-medicine-1.info/

I struggled with acne for years and I finally found the solution that works for me. We have been fooled, tricked, deceived, and just plain lied to. It's time that someone put a stop to it, and everyone learn the truth!

Those of us who suffer from acne have usually been given 2 choices and neither of them work:

1. Over the counter remedies such as cleansers, creams, ointments, etc. These things have been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.

2. Go see a doctor and or dermatologist. They will generally prescribe prescription drugs which include topicals and or antibiotics. This, too, has been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.

I found a step-by-step program that cured my acne and it has never come back. It is amazing and doesn’t use any drugs or doctors. The truth is that acne can be cured…if we know the secret the doctors and drug companies don’t want us to know.

There is a great website: http://cure-my-acne.info/3daycure/ that has all the details. I really suggest you check it out and see if it works as well for you as it did for me.

OMG you've been fooled by Proactiv.
Follow these simple steps, twice a day. Morning and evening.
1. Cleanser - Any type. But I recommend you the one which have salicylic acid in it. I'm using St. Ives Apricot Radiance Blemish Fighting Cream Cleanser with Salicylic acid or you can use Apricot Radiance Deep Cleanser. http://www.stives.com/products/show_product.cfm?pid=72

2. Benzoyl peroxide - You can get them from the pharmacy.
Use 2.5% BP only OK. I recommend you to use Oxy 2.5% BP.
Apply generously to your face.

3, Moisturize - Even if you have an oily skin you must use it because the BP will make your face super dry (it happened to my face), to protect you face from sun ray. You can use any kind of moisturizer you like.

Try this for 2 weeks.
And trust me, you don't have to use Proactiv anymore.

Facial Scrub made of oatmeal and water, make a paste, and rub it on face, let it dry til it is tight, rub it off with your fingertips.

Try this too...mix a teaspoon of sugar with a mild soap lather and use it as cleansing grains.

Steam facials are good too, using lemon and herbs, and then rinse with cold water, that will tighten the pores after the facial.

Try dabbing blemishes with lemon juice a few times a day.

I would suggest using clean and clear foaming wash or clean and clear continuous acne fighting wash. This one works really well. I've used it and it makes my skin feeling really soft and smooth. Plus, there is no more redness but clean and clear face. Try it and good luck.

By putting some ice on it the swelling and redness will go down. You can also to to the Body Shop and get some tree oil. That will help a lot.

The redness is PIH- post inflammatory hyperpigmentation. If you are looking for home treatment, use a pinch of turmeric powder and apply the paste overnight.

Try making a paste with oatmeal and smear it on. Aloe might help, keep it in the fridge. Have you tried Benzoyl Peroxide? Seen a dermatologist?
