I think it is because they are both seen as "innocent" and "youthful". Both are seen to have a view of the world that is hopeful and happy (think "happy thoughts" to fly), and both sacrificed a "life" so to speak. Jesus sacrificed himself to save humanity, while Peter Pan sacrificed his "life" (grew up) in order to save his "world" (the lost boys and all that he knew and loved in Neverland).
I believe there was once a man called Jesus.
I believe in faeries and other small folk.
I believe that people have a right to believe in what they will so long as they are not forced to

Hmm, Never have heard Jesus compared to Peter Pan
( can any one mythical or not, really be compared to Jesus? )
Anything is possible in todays society! Thankfully, we are entitled to believe in whom and what we wish to. Society would be one boring place if everyone agreed on everything!

I've never, ever heard them compared. I am a Christian, and I love Peter Pan.
It's a great story! I'm right now reading a book written about Peter Pan, "Peter and the Starcatchers" by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson. (Well, not right now, obviously, but you know what I mean.) ;D

I haven't heard of them being compared but am sure some churches do believe that fairies and other supernatural folk are evil , just as witchcraft, tools of Satan. They have lists of books that they have tried to remove from school libraries, all fairy tales and 'dirty' books , Catcher In The Rye, for example. Another is Jerry Falwell saying the Telly Tubbies are encouraging Homosexuality because one is purple and carries a purse!
Of course it's possible to believe in both, but your church might not approve. Its called mind police. I'm glad I can believe what I wish and am , so far, free to do so.
