my friend left a message on my phone saying she wants to come round tomorrow, with her granddaughter, my house is a bloody mess and I'm to tired now to tidy it

If she's your friend, she's coming to see YOU, not the state of your house. Otherwise ask her to come on a different day. After all, she invited herself over!

Ask yourself this - do you want to see her or not? (I mean, if you didn't have to worry about the mess)

If she's a good friend, just clear a little space and tell her you haven't been able to tidy up. She has come to see YOU, not your place.

Don't stop yourslef from seeing friends at your place just because of a messy house - if you're too tired now, have an early night. Then get up early tomorrow and do it!

You will feel so much better.

I have found that it helps me a lot to have my favourite music on. Or a good radiio station. Put it on as loud as your neighbours will stand - and dance your way through the clearing up!

instead putting her off why dont you suggest that you guys go to a park or go get something to eat together than hanging out at your house. That way she don't have to see the mess. if that don't work you should just be honest cause lying had never done much good in a friendship.

Tell her your house is a mess or that you have to leave for an emergency appointment. If she asks you what it is just tell her you'd rather not get into it. She will take a hint. Tell her when it would be convenient for you and YOU name the time and day.

Tell her you're not feeling too good, got an appointment, or if you don't want to fib, tell her you've got a very busy day and rearrange
