Can my landlord give me 2 weeks notice to move out of my apt.?
I've been living there for 2 years, my rent has always been on time. I paid him August 2006 rent on 8/1 /06. On 8/18/06, he told me that i would have to vacate the apt. by the end of 8/31/06, because he has someone that will by his house and would like both floors empty. Is this legal. I have no lease with him. We have always had a good tenant - landlord relationship but things are changing now. I know I have my security month that I could live out and then move out at the end of September 2006. Isn't it illegal for him to expect me to find a place to live in less than 2 weeks. Is what my landlord doing illegal? If it is what are my best options? I am actively looking for an apartment, but with work and all, I usually end up setting dates for the weekends. Do I legally have a right to ask for more time to find a place. I have stored some furniture in friends and families homes.

from what i understand, if you don't have a lease, your landlord can make you move out, but i am not certain about this, it's only something that i have heard from others.

Check with local authorities to see if you have other legal protections. In some localities, there is a mandatory 30 notice requirement on rentals and leases. Some areas even have longer notice requrirements.

Look in the phone book under government listings to see if there is a city, county or state housing authority or agency. I would be very surprised if you found nothing prevents your landlord from giving you a longer notice than 2 weeks.

Of course, for the next time, I'm sure you will have learned that you do need a written lease agreement giving detailed information on exactly what rights you and your future landlord will have.

Good luck.

With out a lease it is hard to say. Where do you live? The courts in different states can vary. Try to contact the housing authority and see what they have to say about it. It could be that he has to give you a longer notice since the rent has been paid.

You could also call legal aid and see if they can help but it might just be easier to move on.

30 days is the norm for either party to give notice, even without a lease.

You might call the "Apartment Association" nearest you and ask. By law, no landlord can force a tenant into the street, even for non payment. After 30 days eviction can be enforced.
This may or may not apply to your State.

No. i have in simple terms had some blind dates & did not like the adult men in any respect. as well, I favor to entice close someone as acquaintances before courting. Then i must recognize if we've something in problem-free & if we've similar values. seems pretty a lot indecent to bypass out with someone i don't recognize in any respect. also, it type of feels like a opt for to the chum, like she & her boyfriend can't bypass out except they hit upon a date for someone who's vacationing. Then i must be stuck with a lengthy-distance relationship or with not something in any respect. that's not the type of fashion that i favor to do.
