It is possible for the tear to repair itself. It has happened before. Most likely, you will leak fluid through your whole pregnancy, but because your body replenishes fluid every 3 hours (crazy huh?), you should be fine. There is a greater risk of infection, due to the tear in the sac, but I'm sure you are being watched for that. Bedrest is the best thing for you right now. Just follow the instructions of your doctor and all should go fine.
When you have a tear or rip in your sac, it's possible you deliver earlier, usually still full term, but sometimes a week or so before. Just make sure you are doing what you are supposed to be doing and if anything doesn't feel right to you, call your doctor.
Good luck!! I hope all works out for you and you have a healthy baby as a result!!
I can tell you that I was on bedrest for the last trimester of my first pregnancy that made it to a live birth. It wasn't fun. I feel for you!! It's hard to not be able to do anything. Try reading a series- I can give you some ideas of some good ones if you would like to contact me. There is always crocheting and cross stitch. They are good to do when you have to stay still. Get a cooler and stick it by your bed with water and snacks in it. That way you don't have to get up for those things. It's a good time to be waited on, so let your hubby/significant other help you out and do most of the stuff around the house. That was one thing about being on bedrest that I liked. I didn't have to do housework!! The downside, I knew everything that was on TV at every hour of the day.
My baby was born at 36 weeks and had some breathing problems, but she was growth restricted before she was born, my placenta stopped working, which put her in distress, and my water broke. She was in the NICU for almost a month, but is now a healthy 2 year old!! And to make you feel even better, I have a 10 month old that the pregnancy was totally normal, the birth was normal and she is almost as big as her sister now!! Good luck again and I'll be praying for you!!

I delivered early but I still consider it a successful delivery.
She was early and only weighed 3lbs 1 ounce but... that was over 15 years ago. Now she is 5"9 1/2 and weighs 130 - all muscle.
Although for a while we were really worried due to her ears not being developed all of the way, she has to wear hearing aides... but she is very positive about it, and helps other kids that need hearing aides learn how to deal with others that just don't get it.
With the medical advances that have occurred in the last 15 years I fully expect that if you can make it to week 30 - you will be just fine and have a very happy and healthy baby,
I was 2 months and 1 week early....... so you should be fine... Just follow the doctors rules in regards to bed rest.... don't have wild sex... and just be good. You will be a mom before you know it.
Good luck, I will keep you and your baby in my prayers.

I don't really know about the amniotic sac and what your chances are... but I was reading the answers, and saw that someone said that vitamins cannot hurt you. Vitamins are essential and you should take them as directed by your doctor, no more no less. Vitamin/mineral deficiencies can harm you... but there is also such a thing as a vitamin/mineral overdose, which is likewise harmful. So please don't just start popping vitamins left and right... take them as your doctor advises you to.
And best of luck with your baby, I hope everything turns out well.

Yes, but it's not good!
You will be prone to infection, and other problems. As the baby grows, there will be more pressure on the amnio sac & the tear will likely enlarge. The fluid will (probably) drain the whole time. I'm sure your dr must have you on drugs to help the babies lungs develop. Baby'll need that when it is pre-term.

once the water breaks then it is time to deliver the baby. The fluid is essential for the pregnancy and you will probably have a premie. Don't worry too much I was a premie and had to stay in an incubator for 3 weeks but things turned out ok.
