On almost any given weeknight, and any weekend, either AMC or Bravo has Silence of the Lambs playing. I enjoyed the movie. It is a GREAT movie, but why - oh why - must AMC and Bravo and other cable stations play it EVERY SINGLE DAY?! So it seems. Why?!?!

It's probably a solid ratings getter. If it were not benefitting the networks, they would definitely not show it. I imagine whenever they have a programming gap someone in the office goes, "put the silence of the lambs on because we always have a strong showing for it".

next month they may show some other movie constantly. I think they have "surveyors" that test which movie the general public likes the most at that time. Aren't AMC and Bravo owned by the same company?

Oh, I know! I used to love that movie but now I'm tired of it because they show it so much. Yeah, I know nobody *forced* me to watch it, but I would always catch it when I was flipping channels and I'd just leave it 'cause it is Silence of the Lambs and it's such a great flick, but now I'm just bored to tears with it!

Maybe these stations feel that it's their duty to make sure everyone gets a chance to see it! ;)

AMC and those type channels are limited as far as their
classics so they rotate on a heavy cycle.

It seems like they always do that. Get a hold of a movie and play it to death. Then you get sick of seeing a great movie and never watch it again.

What is Silence of the Lambs anyway?

Those channels pay for the rights to those movies and play them to death for the full length of their access rights. It is simply them trying to get the biggest bang for their buck.

They feel obligated to show it, since it got an Oscar.
