Sounds like a trick question--neither is a fine attribute. A good response would be to say that the most effective sales person is one who is consultative and effective at closing sales--and then link to how that describes you, if appropriate.

Having been in sales myself, my opinion is this. A pushy salesperson tries to sell you something and not really caring if this is something you need or want. They just want the sale. An aggressive salesperson wants the sale, but only if it fits the clients need. They will go out of their way to find a solution that fits those needs.
Ritz Carlton prides itself on customer satisfaction. They have at times a 98% approval rating. Unmatched in the hospitality industry. You have to believe in their philosophy to work there. You won't be able to fake it.
Best of luck.

My heavens, I never have been flashed, but I did unintentionally flash a few folks once. I was in the hospital some time back and decided to take a stoll to the vending area. Well, I wasn't thinking about what I was wearing and, let's just say that those hospital gowns don't leave a lot to the imagination on the backside. The nurse came up from behind me and put a blanket over my shoulders . . . I was wondering why it was a little drafty back there!

For me....nothing. For an application, the difference is an aggreassive sales person knows everything about what they are selling and can make a person who is hesitant feel at ease about a purchase. Pushy is the one who continues to try to convince you, even after you have made it very clear that you do not want to purchase.

Agressive sales people aren't always "agressive" as in violent. They're just so caught up in the excitment of the product or service being sold to you the potential buyer that some times they can seem agressive. That's my veiw on that. Pushy sales people are just that pushy. They'll do or say anything they can to attempt to "force" you into the sale. I will not deal with either because as a potential buyer or customer I demand respect and entegrity as well as good ethics. If he or she lacks on any of this they're not worth my time as far as being a customer to them. I suggest you take this into mind when dealing with auto dealerships. The only "agressive" sales people I'll deal with are the ones that are hardly noticeable on any slight "agressiveness". The ones who know about the product or service and can convence me that it's what I want and need without being agressive or pushy. Get it?

To me, an aggressive sales person is someone who's on top of the game.. follows up w/ cst etc, and pushy sales person is someone that try to make a cst buy a product, and pretty much not into what the cst's needs are...

Whether the salesman will listen to the customer's needs or just ramble on. It's kind of in the unspoken too, as in the respect that the salesman shows toward the customer.

to simplify:
push salespeople sell based on their need to make a sale
aggresive salespeople sell based on your needs and don't give up until you choose their product (versus the competitions)
