I'm pregnant, too and I was told, and I also read, it is not good to lay on your back for more than a few minutes at a time. Lay on your left side, if possible, when resting or taking a nap. This is the best way to get maximum blood flow to you and the baby.
from Harvard Medical:
"Don't Lay on Your Back
You should not lay on your back at this point in pregnancy, as your enlarged uterus may then compress (squeeze and obstruct) the large blood vessels that are returning blood from your lower extremities to your heart. If normal blood flow is compromised, you may begin to feel short of breath -- this is not good for you or your baby."
Here are some other websites for resting positions during pregnancy, etc.

I have heared it's not good to lie on your back for a long time like sleeping on your back but I wouldn't put kicks together with hurting the baby. Baby's kick for all kinds of reasons. If you find yourself on your back when sleeping I found when I was pregnant I would put a pillow against my back so if in the night I rolled which I often did, I ended up not complely flat on my back but still comfortable enough that I didn't wake up.

Laying on your back for just a few minutes is ok, but sleeping on your back is not. It is true that when you relax the baby becomes more active. When you move around it rocks the baby to sleep (baby is in fluid in there). But, laying on your back can cause loss of blood flow to the baby, especially if you are on your back for prolonged periods of time. Try to sleep on your side (left is best). i dont think you are hurting the baby, you probably notice it more when you are laying down because you probably arent busy doing something else and you are being still. but i also dont think you are supposed to lay on your back too much or it can cause some problems.

It depends on how long you're on your back for. Don't lay on your back...the excess weight of the baby and the enlarged uterus put extra pressure on the Vena Cava and can cut off blood flow to the placenta...lay on your sides...preferably your left side.

no. lying down just gives your baby more time to stretch out and kick and wriggle. Don't worry, you aren't hurting your little one. Just don't stay on your back for too long.

No, dont be worried, as long as you are comfortable and not bending your back..I found it quite uncomfortable to even lay on my back for a scan...

No, that doesn't hurt the baby. They usually will wait until you are not moving to be active or the baby is just getting more comfortable.

no, you shouldn't be hurting it, i was on my back a lot when i was on bed rest, the baby knows you are relaxing and that is when they are the most active. :)
