sean or shawn, which one is a girls name?

I have seen girls named Shawn but not Sean and boys named either.

I have seen Shawn as a girl's name. I have only seen Sean as a boy's name. I think Shawn sounds a lot like Fawn or Faun..like a baby deer that your shhh'ing

from my experience, sean is a boys name and shawn is a girls name, but i think it can be either one
try looking in a babyname book just to make sure

I don't like it on either gender really. I just don't like the name. But I'd say boy. Nothing about it is feminine. It is definitely a boys name. The only Sean's I've met have been boys. Just because a name can be used for a girl, doesn't mean it should be. If you have to ask which gender it sounds better on, don't use it.
