I'm looking for a new game to play. I want something that has a good story (something that has an "aha!" moment, or moments of discovery) and something that uses a good amount of brain power. I like Myst and Riven. I also like games with humor, like the Monkey Island series and Grim Fandango.

That's a hard question to answer. First, which platform do you own/prefer? Typically, RPGs are a good start for story-based games. But lately, it's hard to recommend games for people looking for story driven games which does not involve extreme violence and controversy (most of them lack a good story). Go to www.gameinformer.com. They usually have good and impartial reviews of upcomming games and they cover almost all platforms.

As for recommendations: I heard Beyond Good & Evil is good and Psychonauts is worth to try (I played this game's demo and I was entertained). Both available in the original Xbox.

I don't know how much brain power you truly need for them, but for the story side. Any Final Fantasy or Xenosaga would be good.

Xenosaga is a 3 part game (last part shipped today so I will have it tomorrow :-D). I'd have to take a stab that the game is 75% movie and 25% game. You really only are playing the game to advance the story. Xenosaga does progress from 1 to 3 so don't start with 2 or you miss back story. You can pick up Final Fantasy anywhere. The only direct sequal is between Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2 (ten, two). Shy away from FFXI unless you want to get caught up in the MMORPG thing.

Both of the series are long games (needing 20+ hours to do a bare minium beatting) and the later games are visually stunning
