I have a WRT54G router (LinkSys) that has inbound firewall, but not outbound. I need to install a very simple firewall that wouldn't require a lot of memory (I don't need fancy GUI) and would control outbound traffic.

If you're looking for free, Zonealarm is the one of the best out there (http://www.zonealarm.com).

However, like most free firewalls out there, you don't have much control over the "type" of traffic you block. The free versions filter traffic automatically and offer very few options on outbound traffic.

If you are going to buy one, Zonealarm Pro or Norton Internet Security are probably going to suit you best. Check out some basic reviews here:

If you have another pc you can run it on, download smoothwall (you can download it at smoothwall.org) it is a kernal of linux that takes up very little room so you can run it on a bare bones machine (you probably should have at least 256 RAM) but you can control all in and out traffic and even proxy your web traffic.
