To keep his idiot supporters loyal so they'll keep saying "he's doing the best he can." It's just more BS to make the republican party seem appealing for November. FU*K THAT! YOU'RE ALL DONE THIS YEAR!!

I am glad he shows some class, and he does care about katrina victims?? The government can only do so much, some of the responsibility has to come from the people who lived there. Why don't you hear anything about all the other areas that were hit by katrina..Because most of them are helping themselves.. I am glad he is helping them, after giving them 110 billion dollars of our tax money, plus all the private donations, that were sent to the area..

its really sad to know that people joke about bush caring for the katrina victims. for once have you ever thought about what they actually want through. how most of them dont have a home to go back to. I live in florida and we're getting ready for ernesto and its not all fun and games. it gives people hope that maybe the rest of america care and are there to help.

It's an election year and he needs to boost his rating with voters to help the Republican party out. The response to Katrina is really what started sinking the Republican party's capital.

I do imagine it would have been better if he started caring, oh, say, a year ago instead of remaining ignorant and on vacation.

His Republican buddies are about to get their hindquarters handed to them in November. He is trying to make everyone forget that the city is still in a shambles and that he totally screwed the pooch when Katrina hit. It's called marketing. It's just like Coke convincing you that drinking a bottle of sugar water will make you a movie star.

He just stated that he understands that there is much to be done -
the understatement of the year. He should be hiding his face in shame. This is a national disgrace!
This re-building project could have been a humane and a patriotic one, a cornerstone of his domestic policies (assuming he has some) that would have international implications as an example. But instead he fails miserably.......................................

He has to pretend he cares. Midterm elections are coming up and he's the face of the Republican party.

But here's the truth about his involvement.

Surveying the destruction on his way back from yet another vacation from a nice safe 35,000 feet.

It is all politics. He is trying to win favor for pretending to care. His rear should have been there "caring" during the days that followed the storm. Better yet, he should have forced the evacuation issue with the state government.

He's not the greatest politician so it's taken him awhile to realize that a substantial portion of the electorate like to think of their President as THEIR DADDY (Little Billy Clinton played this role to perfection and was, most of the time, loved for it).

It's naive, childish, and dangerous to look to the President as some national father who's responsible for EVERYTHING we don't like and can, magically, make all unpleasantness vanish with a wave of his wand..
