San Diego is a big city. Once you walk across the border, where are you going and how are you going to get there? Why not just fly into the SD airport? It would be a lot easier.

I went by car from San Diego to Tijuana. I think the distance was 12 miles .We crossed in our car and there was just a short wait. Many people are walking across. It looked easy .

Downtown to downtown is about 17 miles but the city limits of both meet at the US/Mexico border so you step directly from TJ to SD when you cross the border.
