I follow my dreams - but I dream with my head AND my heart. I don't make decisions only on emotions. Sadly, most Americans have to follow the $$ because they've been taught that if they work hard now, there'll be lots of $$ at the end of the tunnel for retirement. I don't buy it. I'm into living each moment to the fullest - while thinking about the future and preparing myself for it.
Great question!!!

I decided the only thing that will make me happy is being a musician. I spent money moving to a big city and attending a music school that I could have spent on a trade school for a job that would guarantee some decent income. I'm poor, but following my dreams, and getting closer every day.
For me, it's easier to be a poor musician and know what would have happened if I would've taken a more conventional life path than to be a middle class working man, and never know what may have happened if I'd followed my dreams.

I have been doing a job for 6 years that has turned more into money than dreams...that is why i am going back to get certified in something else that I actually do love.

The 2 don't always have to be exclusive of one another.
Unfortunately, they usually are, but another way to look at this dilemma is to "follow the money trail" so that you can later afford to follow your dreams.
Furthermore, some people's dream is to "follow the money trail", sadly enough.
I will always follow my dreams, I just hope I don't have to follow the money trail to reach them!

i'm sure you've heard it said that money wont buy happiness. and i'm here to tell you that if you chase the money trail and hate every minute of your job, then you will feel empty and unfullfilled. my advice is to follow your dreams and do the job you love, the job that makes you happy, and the job that makes you feel like you have contributed something at the end of the day.

I think that if you follow your dreams and do something you love eventually the money will come. You will be more motivated to do a better job if it's something you like to do and that will lead to promotions and bonuses.
