I want to burn movies with the best possible quality transfering them from .SRT/.SUB-subbed DivX or Xvid to a format that can be viewed un a normal hometheater, but im not sure if the sVCD is designed or FILM (16:9) size or its excusive for NTSC (4:3); and in that case if its better to burn WideScreen-movies in normal VCD

¿Can you help me?

Movies on a VCD. Experiment with each and see which looks better on your player. The player determines quality as much as the format. The aspect (16:9) or (4:3) is determined by the original source, not the format.

Oh, and you know that you can only put about 10 minutes of DVD quality video on a CD, right? If you really want to burn movies to disc for a home theater, invest in a DVD burner.

A normal VCD is more flexible when in comes to the players. You wouldn't have so much trouble if you burn it in the VCD format. Quality will be more consistent too.

If you want the best quality, then go with DVD for sure. If you are stuck with CDRs, then SVCD has higher quality than VCD and you should use that.
