AOL have been taking money out of my account using banking details I supplied to them over 5 years ago for an AOL account which I closed before the 30 days free trial expired.

Best approach is to get them out of your account, period. Go down to the bank and fill out the form that prohibits automatic transfers, you can name AOL specifically as the ones who cannot take money from your account. Then contact AOL directly and have them send you a check for the money they took.

first why have you waited so long to do something ..

yes talk directly with AOL, if you can prove you canceled and they have taken you money then you should get a refund from them

also you should have went to you bank and told them this company "AOL" was no longer authorized to withdraw money from your account ..

and when you canceled you were given a cancellation number(i used to be a member of AOL and had troubles with them as well)

i havent had that problem but i have heard of it happening. call aol directly and talk to them, see when the cancelation actually went thru and see if they can retransfer the money bank into your account

Log on to your internet bank account and 'stop' the Direct Debit or Standing Order.

Yes. They tried to do it to my son. Luckily, they only got one payment and he eventually got it back.
