The beeping could be one of many things, depending on number of beeps etc etc (waffle off into fade..) however as you just put new memory in, you may want to check that its the correct type and that the Laptop can handle the collective amount of memory

For example: Installing 2x128mb memory chips in a system that can only handly a total 128mb (2x64) would cause the machine to 'beep'

Try turning it off, and re-installing the memory, it may not be sitting correctly in the slot(s). check the Machine (PC/Laptop) spec's - Does it allow for the total amount of memory you've installed and ... can it handle equal or different sized memory
chips)

hope this helps..

U are supposed to wear anti static wrist band when installing a memory module. Well for one thing if your memory is fried due to static electricity ur PC will not turn on. Apparently the post will warn u with one or two beeps depending upon the bios.

But I am confused when u said "when i turn the Modem on it has this loud beeping sound " is it an internal card or an External modem or was it just a typo. If u are having problem with modem internal, disconnect it turn the PC ON, and see whether it is working. If it is and teh PC will not turn on after installing the modem, then it's ur modem.

Well for the first problem, make sure ur memory module is seated in correctly, if not take it out and press it in until it snaps into place. If the PC still has teh same problem, take out the new DIMM and turn on ur PC. If this works, return the memory and get a new one. Tell em u wore the anti static strap and still it wouldn't work from the stsrt " BAD MEMORY".

Good Luck

That beeping is the computer's way of telling you that the memory in it is not the right kind. Take the new memory out and the PC should start working again.

if it is an older computer, and this will sound dumb, your computer has too much memory and cannot handle it. you need a new harddrive and motherboard to be able to handle more memory than what is regulated for your actual computer
