that will be great, generally uae is hot, but in dec it goes down to 12 degrees.
dubai is a nice place for shopping such as the city centre in deira dubai, the burjuman centre in bur dubai, the carrefour and lots others. it is a place of hotels, u see world class hotels here, namely the five star deluxe burj al arab aka the arabian tower, the emriates towers hotel, the jumeirah beach hotels and others.
there's lot of places to visit, the wild wadi water park in jumeirah, the hard rock cafe, also there is a small town callled alain 120 kms from dubai, if you have time i would recommend you go there too. in alain there is the UAE's biggest zoo, hili fun city, and the everest of middle east, jabel hafeet, alain is known for its museums and parks.
sharjah is another place to visit near dubai, u find world class gold markets and beautiful monuments to visit..
abudhabi the capital city is beautiful too, especially the corniche and the new gardens .
i hope you enjoy the country, please remember when u land into the country's airports' please ask for a tourist information brochure which may tell u interesting places to visit.

I was in a vacation in UAE. I stayed in a very good hotel in Dubai and from here, by a tour company, we did trips to Abu Dhabi and the others emirates, in Oman, we did a Safari and much others interesting trips. It was a "other" country, with amazing buildings ( Burj Al Arab hotel and others ), with nice people and a lot of gold. In dec., I hope for you, it will be a fine weather, so enjoy your trip.

I lived in Kuwait for three years and have been to Dubai a couple of times. Its not bad and alot better than Kuwait, its very western and pretty open for an arab country.
You basically have everything there that you would find in any decent sized American or European city. I am actually looking at property there myself and yes I wouldnt even consider it if it wasnt open minded.....
Check it out online, google it to get a tour guides version - good luck to ya....

Check this out... I had to stop at an airport there. I was waiting to get some icecream when this family walked in... Dad and kids. They got in front of me but I am prepared for that, it's their culture. The Dad was smoking, he looked at me and said, "Oh sorry... did we get in front of you?" I almost flipped because we were told it's normal there for people to jump lines. I told him to go ahead because I haven't made up my mind. From what I can see, it's a very nice and laid back place.
