A dermatologist is the next step if over the counter meds don't work, perhaps there is something else going on that the OTC stuff is not addressing. On the other hand, if you have not tried ProActiv, I recommend it because it actually worked better for me than the creams prescribed by the doctor.

Use the original Lever 2000 bar soap - works wonders and it's even dematologist reccomended! Also, get the clearasil creams - they are WONDERFUL!!!! I used to have really bad acne - I mean, REALLY bad - and it would get worse whenever I was stressed out over something. Make sure your skin is not completeley dry, because that will make acne sometimes worse. Question: have you tried Proactive Solution, yet? It only worked a few months for me, but other people seem to be having luck with it. I wish you luck! I know how frustrating it can be! Also, try to stay away from foundation - any and all kinds, sometimes that is the cause of your acne, too! I learned that the hard way!

If you’re looking for accurate acne information, best to see a dermatologist. Some people believe doctors are predisposed to take the easy way to deal with acne… prescription drugs. But, with many, this simplistic answer may not be the appropriate course of action. Some feel that such prescription drugs just treat the symposium and not the underlying cause. But, a local dermatologist is still your best starting point.
For me personally, I discovered a great informational acne treatment site. Not only is there good information/articles but I got their audio e-book and following it’s advice can now say that my acne is a thing of the past! Keep in mind, were all different and there are various types of acne, so what works for some may not be totally effective for all.
Bottom line, hang in there, you will get past this! Sincere best wishes and good luck.
Oh, by the way the site that helped me is: http://www.acne-treatment-medicine-1.info/

I struggled with acne for years and I finally found the solution that works for me. We have been fooled, tricked, deceived, and just plain lied to. It's time that someone put a stop to it, and everyone learn the truth!
Those of us who suffer from acne have usually been given 2 choices and neither of them work:
1. Over the counter remedies such as cleansers, creams, ointments, etc. These things have been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.
2. Go see a doctor and or dermatologist. They will generally prescribe prescription drugs which include topicals and or antibiotics. This, too, has been proven over and over again not to work. Why? It does not address the root cause of the problem.
I found a step-by-step program that cured my acne and it has never come back. It is amazing and doesn’t use any drugs or doctors. The truth is that acne can be cured…if we know the secret the doctors and drug companies don’t want us to know.
There is a great website: http://cure-my-acne.info/3daycure/ that has all the details. I really suggest you check it out and see if it works as well for you as it did for me.

Right now my skin is perfectly clear, for the first time in 3 years. It's been about 9 weeks and all my acne is gone. It is such a great feeling to wake up with clear skin.

Different people have different types of acne. I have the cystic type acne. I had tried everything on the market, proactive, OTC products, prescription items, antibiotic, etc. The thing that seems to help mine the most is using Mary Kay 3 in one cleaser and practive renewing lotion. This cleanser is really great. It exfoliates wonderfully. A lot of the times the most important thing is to get the dead skin cells by exfoliating and keeping the pores unclogged by oil, etc.

Drink lots of water, first off, and lay off greasy foods. You are what you eat! If products like ProActiv (and now, the cheaper store brand versions) haven't worked - personally I love them - then consult a dermatologist. They can often presrcribe antibiotics like tetracycline that help clear acne, or, possibly even dermabrasion. If you're female, an Ob-gyn can try prescribing Ortho-tricyclen or Ortho-tricyclen Lo; those will help if it's a hormone problem. I'm 31 and still take that myself to avoid PMS-breakouts. Unfortunately, if you're in your teens, if nothing else works, you might just need to wait for your hormones to work it out.

Talk to your doctor or a dermatologist. Wash your face 2-3 times a day. Give facewash up to 6 weeks to see if it works before getting rid of it. Don't touch your face/skin with your hands. And use alcohol to dry up zits.

You really should try Proactive. That stuff really works wonder for me! When you try it, you might not see a result right away but keep using them EVERYDAY. You will start to see results in 2-3 month!
