I learned to read in the first grade from "Fun With Dick and Jane". Whatever happened to Sally , Spot , Tim, and Mother and Father? Who remembers the Uncle Wiggly stories? Did your teacher seat you in a semi-circle and call you Bluebirds?

I, too, learned from "Fun with Dick and Jane" - the Catholic edition. When I misssed a ton of school due to illness, family supplied me with Robert Louis Stevenson and Dr. Suess. I went from 4 years behind to 4 years ahead.

We sat in straight rows in desks that were linked to the seat ahead of you.

We had desks that were individual (supplies underneath the top) and we used Fun with Dick and Jane and I remember Brair Rabbit and the tar baby.
