You have to use http://192.168.0.1/ to access it. Then enter your id/pw to get to the admin screen. There is a screen where you can change the name that shows.

For a linksys router, you need to enter the ip address of 192.168.1.1 on the url address in your browser. This will bring up a display panel of linksys for you to logon. If you have not logged on before, then I believe the userid is a blank and password is admin. If this is not correct, take a look at your documentation for linksys. Once in, go to the wireless tab and under Wireless Network Name (SSID), enter the name of the network you like to have and save the settings. Then get out of linksys and you are done. Good Luck.

The Correct IP address for your linksys router is "192.168.1.1". when the security window opens leave the "user name" blank. The password is "admin". Just click on the basic setup and Change the "SSID" to your choice of network name . Don't forget to save your changes or it won't work. Then go to your "Network Connections" and right click your wireless connection. then click on properties , click on the Wireless Network tab and down in the preferred networks box is where you can add or delete a network. So if you go to your favorite Coffee shop and you want to use their connection just add the network name to this list. Don't forget to make sure the data encryption box is NOT checked . I hope this helps you.

Simple my friend:

*Open a browser. In the address type: \\192.168.1.1 and enter
*Once prompted, enter UserName & Password. If it's the 1st time, leave the Username blank & type admin for the password.
*Goto the wireless tab in your screen menu.
*Look for SSID. Change it from Linksys to any name you want.

================================Simple. :)

I also suggest you have a tight security turned on. So ppl don't play around ;)

Try reading the manual that is on the CD that came with your router. It gives good instructions. Note, you do have to type in an ip address to access your router. I do hope you are using 128 bit encryption.

It's in your router settings...the setting is called SSID. Change that to whatever you want it to say.

you have to log into your router -- i believe it's http://192.186.1.1 and log into it using your user and pass, but check your manual for more details-- and then go to the setup and look for the current name of your router, then change it and update the settings.
