What?! What is the premise behind this thought? I am extremely curious as to why one would think this is a valid idea. Taxes, as out of control as they have become, are the way we pay for civil services (such as police and fire) and maintenance of roads and such. We all need to contribute.

No. Non-citizens in this country are not tax exempt. If you have a green card, you still pay taxes. Everybody should pay taxes. Why should they get a break? If they allow immigrants that right, then natural born citizens also should have a period of 10-15 years exempt of any tax burden. Everybody who lives in this country should pay taxes.

I dont think so either.... Im all for immigration but when it comes to taxes everybody gets kinda testy... The best thing we can do is give them a small discount.... Then after the first year they should have to pay in full.

I also wish to see a guest worker program put in place in which they pay a fine , say 500 dollars, but do not get get a path toward citizenship , also this will give us a way to moniter them and tax them ...

Should they also get two votes at every election instead of one, to make up for the injustices America must have perpetrated against their home countries? Should they be given immediate citizenship if they bring their gay partners with them? Should native-born Americans have to take language classes so they can speak with immigrants in their native tongue?

You're out to lunch, Lawrence.

WHY? I am the grandchild of an immigrant family (yes, that recent of immigration) and we got no special privileges, no special treatment, no benefits, no teaching in the language of our ancestors -- so it should be the SAME for all immigrants to this country -- NO EXCEPTIONS!
