The democrats have revived and revised Steve Forbe's Flat Tax plan. They want to take 100% of what you earn and every citizen will get an equare share of the profit on a monthly basis in the form of entitlement checks.
And just to remind Jim W, et al, outsourcing was an issue raised by Perot in 1996. The problem began in the 1990s and while it continues today, it is not nearly as popular as it was. (Mostly because as Ross predicted, most outsourcable jobs will be out of the USA by 2005.

You say that out sourcing is an entirely different issue. Not entirely!
Although I agree it is ultimately a business decision carried out in the board rooms of businesses, many of these businesses receive all sorts of tax breaks from US citizens. I say take away any and all tax breaks for these corporations that send jobs overseas. That is not a punitive move in my opinion - it saves a few American jobs + it ends tax breaks these companies don't need or deserve to begin with.
If they still choose to send these jobs overseas OK but let's stop giving them "corporate welfare"!
I have a friend who until recently worked as a well paid IT person for Exxon. Well Exxon decided that they needed to cut back on costs while making record profits. Their solution -to ship most of their IT jobs overseas (India I believe). Ironic.
Have you ever had to deal with IT help desks in India, Pakistan etc??? It is a total disaster! Some (not enough) American companies are actually moving at least some of these jobs back as they simply can not provide the customer service American customers require.
I think a flat personal tax needs to be considered but all corporate welfare & tax breaks need to be shut down. There will never be a fair tax solution until these breaks for large corporations are not also addressed.

I'm not sure you can have an equal rate for all. You say you don't want a graduated rate punishing those who create jobs, but the people who have more resources should ultimately have to sacrifice a little more. They have the money, its not like a graduated rate will put them in the poor house. You can't give Trump, Gates, or Murdoch the same tax rate you would give someone on minimum wage; it's just not right.

You obviously don't understand how corporate America works -- the top executives make money by shipping jobs overseas, doing big mergers that eliminate American jobs, getting back dated stock options and other perks from rubber stamp boards. The wages of average workers in the US have remained flat while income at the top has skyrocketed. The deck is stacked in favor of the rich and that's why a graduated tax rate is fairer.

Well, since the only demoncrats are Republicans, my guess is that they would spend more, increase taxes for the poor and middle class and cut taxes only for the extremely wealthy like they always have.
The current Republican adminstration has collected more tax dollars than all other previous adminstrations combined, and are still squandering our tax dollars faster than ever.
They even cut benefits for our veterans, and war handicapped, and the families of our war dead. It is obvious that Republicans are the true demoncrats.
Oh, I am sorry, you were trying to slam Democrats and try to make Republicans sound better.

You can't ask what democrats think on an issue but then tell them they can't say something. What's the point of asking a question when you tell us we can't tell you the answer?
Democrats tend to favour progressive tax = more for the people that are richer and less for the people that are more poor. Conservatives like flat tax. It's pretty much a fact. There are discrepancies on both sides but typically that's how it's done on the parties.

Like John McCain, I believe in a flat rate tax.
Take away all loopholes; all tax shelters for the rich and all corporate tax loopholes, all loopholes for fake charities and phony collections.
Then everyone, regardless of whether you make $1,000,000 a year or $10,000 pays the exact same rate.
No loopholes, no tax credits.
Same rate for everyone.
