You pretty much can't get boards that long. What you will have to do is run a beam down the center of the span, and then use 16foot joists. Typically, builders will use what is called an LVL beam to span long distances. LVL stands for laminated veneer lumber. It is esentially a piece of plywood in the shape of dimensional lumber (like a 2x12). Typically, LVLs won't span any farther than 20 feet, so you will need to double or even triple them (based on the length of the span)and then overlap the joints at least 4 feet. You will probably need to special order the LVLs first, and then if you are using normal lumber for your joists, buy them from a lumber yard. There are also specialty engineered floor joists instead of 2x12s, although they are a bit more expensive.

You need to contact your local lumberyard. They can special order "engineered lumber" floor joists designed to accomodate the span you need. This is not the time to visit the home improvement warehouses. They do not have the expertize to take care of your special needs.

Good luck with your project.
