I ask that because I had 313 points and Yahoo page said I need 47 more points to get to level 3
I got more than 47 points added to that yet I'm still at level 2! Why is that? I know this question will cost me a few points but I need to know what the answer is and why did Yahoo error on my yahoo page? Atypo?

You need to reach 1000 points to get to level 3.

Sounds like a boo-boo. You must have misread something as it has not changed... as far as I know...
Sure it didn't read you have earned 47 points and next level is three?
