I used to be on birth control pills and always knew when my period was going to start. Now that Im off the pill I don't know when I should start.
Are you supposed to start counting from the day you last started or at the end of your period. I think you count 28 days to see when your suppose to start.
SO, if I started August 1, and lasted 4 days, when should I have my next period????

P.S.
I have an appointment Sept. 18 to get an IUD put in so I don't have to worry about getting pregnant.
I am married with two small children but couldn't remember to take a pill.
Please only serious answers please.

You have to start counting since the day your period comes. So if your prd came on aug 1st and you have a 28 day cicle, you should have it again on aug 29.

The first day of your period is Day One and you count from there. An "average" cycle is 28 days (as is the enforced cycle on hte Pill) but a normal cycle can really range anywhere from 25 to 32 days or so, with even shorter and longer cycles possible. As long as you're sure you're not pregnant, you're just going to have to wait for yours to come and note how many days it took; hopefully you can expect about the same next cycle. Some women don't really get predictable periods at all, and if this is your first cycle off the Pill almost anything is possible!

A period is "typically" 28 days from the first day you start bleeding till the last day before you start bleeding again. Not everyone follows this schedule - you can be shorter by a week or longer by a week; without chemical control, there's no telling.

Are you SURE you want an IUD? I had one and it was HORRIBLE! I eventually had it removed after 5 months, PID and uterine perforation. BTW, failure rate on an IUD is much higher than published - just an FYI.

After being on birth control your periods will be irregular. You should count from the first day of your last period.

It will help you understand your body and all the myths about it. It will help you time when you are ovulating and the best times to conceive – or not! . It's about knowing your body and knowing when you are fertile or not. You can pick and choose what you do with your info. Good luck and don't listen the all the myths
