I need help with a few things for my party. Here is the info on the party. It will begin in the late afternoon/early evening and continue into the night. There will be about 30 people at the party--it's a co-ed 13th birthday party. There will be mostly girls, though. The theme is a color theme, which is lime, magenta, and orange. There will be music/dancing as well as a pool and jacuzzi. These are the things I need help with :
--how early should I send out the invitations, and should I include a response card or a RSVP number?
--what time should the party start and end?
--what should I give people to take home (party favors)? Don't say that we're too old for those. I was thinking something more classy-looking, such as a candle and a small box of candy along with a burnt CD, or something of the sort. Still looking for ideas
--music--should I make a music mix before hand or tell people to bring CDs?
Please answer as many of these as you can!
Thanks, please email me more ideas if ya can

Glo-Sticks are cool; go with those. Prizes for the 1st, 13th, and 26th visitors can be $10 giftcards to Blockbuster Video, Starbucks, Jamba Juice, or Hollywood Video.
Send out the invitations at least 2 weeks in advance so people can plan ahead....and ALWAYS INCLUDE A RESPONSE/RSVP number!
Small candy boxes for party favors sound all right. I would suggest that the kids bring their own CDs for music and dancing and stuff....making a music mix would be cool, too. Get favorite song ideas from your newly-turned teenager as well as his/her friends to make the mix.
Involve party games like musical chairs (to the said CD mix), hot potato, etc. but make sure that they don't sound too kiddie-esque. The prize can be a CD or giftcard of the winner's choosing.
Better yet, settle on a party theme. Be creative; try ideas such as a pirate theme (either "Pirates of the Caribbean" or "Pirates of Penzance"), a sweet 13 theme with the number 13 incorporated into everything, "Harry Potter," etc.
For my dad's "surprise" 50th birthday, his sister came up with a pirate theme because Dad wore a patch over his eye (the muscles in his eye made it stick out weird because of his thyroid so he wears an eye patch; little kids get a kick out of it...LOL).
And another thing.....get your teen to write thank-you notes to everyone who came, even if they didn't bring a present.

I would send out invites at least 2 wks before the party. If you send out a rsvp number which I prefer and then you wouldnt have to worry about losing something in the mail. Making it an email address would be even better. Picture frames make good gifts, and candles that match your color themes would be good too along with matching ribbon. Mixed cds would be good and asking people to also bring cds would make sure there are lots of options but then you have to make sure to get the cds back to people. I would have the party start around 6 and end around 10 since parents will probably not want to pick them up later than that.
Hope its a blast!

Party should start around 4 or 5 and last till 10 or 11. Send out invites at least a week and a half in advance and include RSVP cards. Have a music mix made up already you don't want to be responsible for all the Cd's. As for party favors Everyone loves candy and maybe you could give them leis.

-- Send out invitations 4 - 6 weeks prior, this is standard practice. For the RSVP number, why not set up an email address, like JennsParty@yahoo.com or something for the RSVP?
-- I say start at 4 and go until 7, or later
-- Buned CD's are good, you can put personalized labels on them that say "Jenn's Birthday Music" or whatever and have Jenn's favorite songs on them.
-- if you go with the email rsvp route, have people send you their favorite song of the moment and burn those onto the party soundrack
-- I personally don't like glow sticks, I feel they were very much 10 years ago, but if you think they'll go over well then do it.
-- door prizes can be the cd's!

Send the invitations out atleast 2 weeks in advance.
Tell them to RSVP if they can come.
Start out with your best friend over, then have people arrive when you want. End around 10.
Your idea for Burning a CD, is great. Maybe that, gum, a candle for the girls, and yeah a box of candY!
Tell people they can feel free to bring a mixed CD to play And make some yourself

-First of all i would send the invatations about 3 weeks early so people can come prepared.
-I reckon the party should not start early because people will get tired and leave early. Maybe start it at 7.00 and then whatever time you think would be a reasonable time for it to end.
-Partyfavours the Candy boxes are a good idea. Maybe you could give each of them a disposabal camera.
- Ask people that are coming what kind of music they like. Also songs that they like and maybe do them yourself. But this is your party not theirs you put whatever music you want on!
The glow sticks are a good idea!

You sound like you have never been disapointed before when all 30 people don't show up.
Make sure they will by sending out invitations early, try to get as many as you can involved somehow, and then they won't get distracted and forget.
Give prizes that match you color scheme for fun.

the place do I initiate? you could circulate to Michaels (a craft save) purchase the froth crowns and purchase a bag of jems and enable them to beautify their very very own crowns. purchase little nail cropping contraptions ($a million-3) Or purchase foam frames and the field of little designs. It provides them something to do, it is crafty, it is definatly widespread and that's a memorable keepsake. If she is girly i think of the crafty crowns may be relaxing, and get some glitter glue. there are some techniques. they are never too previous, they are women!
