Sounds like your drain is partially clogged. Do NOT run the dishwasher until the drain is running free or you will just be recycling dirty water on the dishes. Trun the water on and then the garbage disposal - if that does not help then keep the water running and use a plunger to force the water up and down. That usually is enough to break up a partial clog. As far as the noise goes - it most likely is not related to the drain problem and could be a bearing - depends on the kind of noise it is. Could also be an air bubble in the hose but that is doubtful.

Normally the first cycle for a dishwasher is to drain out any water left in the bottom. Dishwasher pumps are designed to always have water in them. Often when that water has been pumped out and the pump is dry it will be noisy. (maybe that's why it was a "freebie")

The disposal may have ground up the seeds before the drain had enough water to flush them through. If you remove the trap from the disposal you will probably find it full of the seeds.

Chances are, the dishwasher drain is connected to the disposal so using a plunger will just force the dirty water into the dishwasher through the drain hose. So a plunger probably will not unclog the drain, you will have to remove the trap and clear it that way.

Since the dishwasher has been noisy all along and the drain clog is recent, I would guess they are not related.

A small piece of insulation behind the kick plate at the bottom of the dishwasher may reduce some of the noise.

If the drain is clogged, the dishwasher is usually drained into the disposal. You may need to pull the disposal and snake the line to clear the clog.
