Wow, there are good points to both countries...but, the taxes are higher in the UK, so maybe a different spot in the US would work for me!

USA. I've been to both places. In fact, I've lived all over the world.
For all of it's problems, the USA still the land of opportunity and the best country in the world. The UK is a very nice place, wonderful people and beautiful countryside but it has it's problems, just like every other country. If you think the American bureaucracy is bad, we got nothing on the Brits.
The US is a much more varied place as well. The UK is still just an island and the resources there are limited. Of course, Europe is a short plane ride away but you're choices in the US are much wider and more varied.
I would go to the UK to live for a short time but would definately choose (and have chosen) to make my permanent home in the US.

This is exactly what I actually plan to do. I'm American, but have lived off and on in London and love the culture there. I suppose such a choice depends on what values one brings to the table, but for me, I love history, ceremony, tradition, politeness, but mixed with the incredible energy that the European Union is bringing to all that. I find the British generally more informed, less conservative, and more open to new ideas. At the same time, I abhor what has happened to the US, with capitol punishment, religious fanatics who want to take away womens' freedom, factory farming, the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer, and let's not forget: the most polluting country in the world. It's not a pretty place, America, these days.

I wouldn't go for it.
I don't have a family. If you have to ' give ' it to me that makes me a dependent. I'd rather stand on my own.
If I were to leave the U.S. it would be to the end of apprehending my own personal freedom.
Nothing someone hands you bespeaks freedom.
I wouldn't be looking for a job, either, I'd be self employed or retireable. This so as not to be dependent on a control situation with umpteen variables. I definitely wouldn't stay in the U.S. though England is something of a temptation.
Given the political and economic mutuality Englishmen and Americans seem to enter into, my purpose in leaving America would be to blot it out of all memory.
Why should I wish to go to a place where that same obnoxiousness has a ripe opportunity of manifesting itself even in an official or business capacity where you are presumed upon to defer?

I think I would pass on that opportunity and stay just as I am now. I have family in the UK, but things are way to small and crowded there. The US, I don't mind going there for vacations, but I really don't think I would actually want to live there. So, I'd pass and stay in Canada.

If I wanted "security" meaning a welfare-state government, prescriptions paid for, a decaying society and guaranteed mediocrity, then UK. If I wanted opportunity combined great risk and great reward, then the US.
Oh, are you white or non-white? If the latter, then the US for sure, though the Brits have the best sensitivity to other races and cultures in all of Europe.

USA
The cost of living in the UK is very high. Taxation is a huge problem. Dollar for dollar, opportunity for opportunity the USA is unmatched.

USA, the UK is infested with too many radical Muslims. When the lines are drawn in the sand and it is time to pick sides (YES this will happen), the UK is going to have their hands too full with their own Muslim immigrants to help out much.

UK. They've already made advances in basic human rights recognitions that the USA is still fighting over.

I would like the USA to as liberal as the Uk towards marijuana. Plus I'm tired of hearing black people and mexicans complain all the time.
