The short answer is do not use an e-mail.

Long answer would be ... you see it's almost impossible to get rid of spam, but there are ways to reduce the flow or minimise to almost 0. First you should follow to strict practise of Internet surfing:

1. Do not give your e-mail address everywhere. In most of the cases if you want to subscribe to some newsletters you should make sure that they are not going to sell or pass on your information to other parties. During every subscription you should have the option to decline their "offers". If the website is not giving you a choice then DO NOT SUBSCRIBE to their newsletters.

2. Check your Internet settings if you don't know how to do that ask eligible person to do it for you. You should protect your web surfing as much as possible. Install Firewall and stop using Internet Explorer - use Firefox browser, which is pretty simple.

3. Get an e-mail provider who can filter your spam for you. Now days Yahoo, Google and all respected companies provide that. This way you'll be not the one to clean your Inbox from unsolicited emails.

It's virtually impossible to get rid of spam. Once your email address is out there, it just keeps getting passed around. Sure, there are some that actually unsubscribe you, but overall they are from fake addresses anyway.

Get on the Do not Spam list.

there should be an "opt out" at the bottom of the e-mail. Also go to: www.spam.org
