My ex (dated 1.5 years) broke up 3 months ago and, after about 2 months of friendliness, he went ballistic on me- he wrote me an email out of the blue that belittled me, cussed me out, and in which he threatened to hit me if he ever saw me again. Since then I have only spoken to him once, at which time he accused me of stealing pain medication from his friend (untrue).
However, when I pulled up at a bar with my new boyfriend yesterday, I noticed a red car with tinted windows pull up next to me: my ex's car. Despite the fact he was blocking traffic, he sat there and stared at my boyfriend and me for at least 30 seconds, then sped off down the road. I was creeped out entirely. An hour later, when my friend came to meet us at the bar, he saw my ex walking by my car, looking at it. When he confronted him, my ex said he was checking to see if I had a flat tire and was meeting a friend at a nearby restaurant.
Do I call or write him about this behavior, or do I ignore him?

It has been suggested to me by friends that I alert the police, but I want to at least talk to my ex and get his side before doing so. When we dated I never thought him capable of vandalism or violence (though I now wonder), and I would hate to get him in trouble for something he wouldn't do.

well if nothing was done to your car then nothing to get him in trouble for. But it does sound like maybe you need to keep an eye out that kind of behavior isn't normal. However i would not have anymore contact written or verbally with this guy, and if his behavior continues then I'd think about calling in the police. GL hope all goes well

Ignore him, but be VERY careful he sounds like he may not be rapped to tight. Don't go anywhere you think he might be for a while. If he calls you don't answer. If he still brothers you or vandalizes ANYTHING at all call the police right then. Don't wait. What ever you do don't tease him.

I would say call the police and at least make a report, you never know. I would have never guessed that all my sister's talk of kicking my mom's *** would have panned out, but she almost killed her this past weekend and had her two kids helping her (ages 9 and 7). Don't be to willing to blow it off, you want to keep yourself safe, you already saw him by you earlier...sounds creepy.

Man has an obsessive nature. Definitely keep your distance and try very hard to make him part of your past as if you try to talk to him, he will lie about his behaviour and try to get you back. Be happy with what you have. If he tries anything violent, call the law on him.

Why do you still want to be in contact with him. Stop talking to him if he really did anything to you or your car call cops until then leave him alone and Live your life.

move on! it's not worth it to keep playing games back and forth! have fun with the new guy! if he starts seeing you react to the ex, he will start to think you still have feelings for him and that would be bad! the ex just doesn't want to see you happy without him... it's best to be happy without him!

I think you should get a restraining order he's obviously harrasing you. Plus it won't get him into trouble unless he breaks the order. It keeps you safe and lets him know to back off.
