I do not know wherefrom you took this word "Avater". I feel you meant "Avathar" in mentioned in several Hindu Mythology. If so,
Avathar means INCORNATION.
Generally, it is said avathars are taken by Gods only to slay the Demons, or like wise to save the world and mankind and good people.
The most Popular Avathas are by Vishnu -
Tasavathar - 10 incornations which he took in the form of -

I presume we are talking spiritually here. An avatar is a highly
advanced being who took it's body with it when it left the earth, and can come back and reassemble the physical body if desired.
I recently heard that we are in fact supposed to advance to this level, called translating. Like Enoch, Elijah, Jesus at the Ascension, and Muhammad did. I presume it has something to do with not feeding the destructive, (recycling), spiritual
aspect of things.

An Avatar is a person that attains a higher state of being by following the virtues of a faith. The are often found in stories of fantasy and are commonly referred to as Paladins, or Warrior priest. So basically, they will beat you down, and then pray for your soul.

In Hindu philosophy, an avatar, avatara or avatarim (Sanskrit: à¤
वतार, IAST: avatÄra), most commonly refers to the incarnation (bodily manifestation) of a higher being (deva), or the Supreme Being (God) onto planet Earth. The Sanskrit word avatÄra- literally means "descent" and usually implies a deliberate descent into lower realms of existence for special purposes. The term is used primarily in Hinduism, for incarnations of Vishnu whom many Hindus worship as God.
