I think very wise. Yes, we are called to forgive others regardless of the times they come against us, but we are not called to remain in circumstances where they can continue to come against us. Sometimes it is best to forgive and move on. Forgiveness is more about the person doing the forgiving than the person that committed the bad deed. Forgiveness gives you an opportunity to free yourself from the prison the person who has wronged you trapped you in. Set yourself free from their control and forgive them.

it is great to follow the above dictum in life. one should always forgive because that is why we are called humans. we can laugh and forgive and think which makes us superior. we should not forget the deed done by him so that we refrain from doing the same mistake that was done upon us.

To a point. Forgive and forget is what we are told to do (and not just in the Christian religion, but in pretty much all of them in modern times). But what that means is to forgive (don't let it bother you anymore) and forget (don't bring it up again repeatedly down the road as a verbal weapon in future arguments). And this is better advice to follow, because then the one who wronged you is more willing to work with you if they feel that if they make a mistake it won't be used against them again and again. The best thing is to let it go (though if it happens regularly with someone, it may be best just to leave them alone. Don't dwell on the matter, but don't be taken advantage of either).

Absolutely right, to follow it in totality in life till it ends. But the question's if U could not forget then it's not a forgive, hence, it's co related reciprocation, logically.

I FEEL IT GOOD TO FORGIVE AND NOT FORGET. FORGIVING IS LETTING GO OF A FEELING THAT HOLDING ON TO CAN MAKE YOU SICK. IT ALSO CUT YOU OFF FROM A PERSON YOU CAN DEAL WITH BUT CAN'T FORGET THEIR ACTION. FORGETTING CAN GET YOU CAUGHT UP AGAIN THAT IS WHY YOU DON'T FORGET. IF THEY DO IT TO YOU ONCE THEY WILL DO IT AGAIN.

Absolutely. Very few people actually change. We proceed in our lives on the basis of information. If a person does you ill, you know something about that person in order not to allow them the opportunity to do it again.

it is good in some sense.
one must forgive, but never forget what they did to you....to be more specific...... how you suffered. you get a experience in that...a lesson which you must never forget. so that it help you in your futher life and you don't fall in that junk again.

hope you understand the real meaning behindthe phrase.

best wishes

I think it's spot on, firstly you must forgive otherwise you'll end up bitter and twisted, however it would be idiotic to forget even though we must not dwell on bad experiences from our past.

The above dictum means.. that we should always 4give evryone.. but shouldn't forget wat they did n the pain it caused us.. so that we dont give that pain to anyone else..

But, i guess.. its too difficult to follow this in practical life.. right???
